UP THE IRONS (AN EPIC HYMN TO IRON MAIDEN)
Words and Music by Paolo Tiseo of THEANDRIC
Let me tell you ‘bout my favorite band
They hail from England’s green and pleasant land
Six saintly shrouded men move across the stage
They keep on forging metal despite their old age
I will always praise them for their heavy metal hearts
Even after they trade metal for a fleet of six golf carts
1. Steve Harris had the vision and he writes those epic songs
With sometimes too many words in the verses that makes it awkward to sing along
His galloping magic fingers have no use for picks
Some may say his bass playing is too high in the mix
Writin’, Leadin’, Vision, plays a Fender bass!
Writin’, Leadin’, STEVE!!!
Writin’, Leadin’, Vision, his daughter’s kinda hot!
Writin’, Leadin’, WEST HAM UNITED!!!
REPEAT THE CHORUS
REPEAT THE CHORUS
REPEAT THE CHORUS
2. Bruce Dickinson is the greatest singer to ever walk the earth
The day he was created was no accident of birth
He’s a licensed pilot who always flies first class
He wrote the Chemical Wedding, that album kicks my ass
REPEAT THE CHORUS
REPEAT THE CHORUS
REPEAT THE CHORUS (2nd time: THE EYE OF HORUS)
3. When Davey Murray plays guitar, he does it without guile
When he steps out on the stage, it’s service with a smile!
He doesn’t write too many songs, but when he does, they’re good
The ending of ‘The Prophecy’ always gives me wood
Pickin’, grinnin’, jammin’, such a friendly chap!
Pickin’, grinnin’, DAVEY!!!
Pickin’, grinnin’, jammin’, you know he likes to golf!
Pickin’, jammin’, SMILEY FACE!!!
THE SAME FOUR WORDS
THE SAME FOUR WORDS
THE SAME FOUR WORDS (x2)
THEN CHANGE THE KEY
THEN CHANGE THE KEY
THEN CHANGE THE KEY (x2)
THEN BACK TO ‘E’
THEN BACK TO ‘E’
THAT CLEVER STEVE (X2)
Then I saw the heavens opened, and there was a white horse; its rider was (called) "Faithful and True." He judges and wages war in righteousness. His eyes were (like) a fiery flame, and on his head were many diadems. He had a name inscribed that no one knows except himself. He wore a cloak that had been dipped in blood, and his name was called the Word of God. The armies of heaven followed him, mounted on white horses and wearing clean white linen. Out of his mouth came a sharp sword to strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron maiden, and he himself will tread out in the wine press the wine of the fury and wrath of God the almighty. So it shall be written, so it shall be done.
4. It’s time to mention Adrian Smith, he plays a mean guitar
But stay away from “Melvin” when he’s hanging at the bar
Every single note he plays is filled with heart and soul
But you should see what he can do with just a fishing pole!
Pickin’, jammin’, tappin’, writing awesome riffs
Pickin’, Urchin, Adrian!!!
Pickin’, jamming, tappin’, he wears lots of headbands while he’s
Pickin’, jammin’, He likes to fish!
THIS SONG’S SO LONG, etc.
5. The man we call Nicko McBrain, is quite a funny bloke
His nose is quit misshapen, I tell you it’s no joke
But he plays the drums and he brings it every night
Last time he played a solo he and Steve got in a fight
Drummin’, jokin’, prayin’, he also likes to golf
Drummin’, jokin’, NICKO!!!
Drummin’, jokin’, prayin’, rock n’ roll ribs,
Drummin’, jokin, prayin' BORN AGAIN!!!
WE’RE STILL NOT DONE, etc.
The Seventh Son (is their best album)
6. Janick Gers is the third guitarist, with that funky name
His frantic on-stage antics are sometimes kinda lame
I don’t why he’s still there, since Adrian came back
But he and Bruce are buddies, so let’s all cut him some slack
Pickin’, bendin’, spinnin’, falling on his face!,
Pickin’, bendin’, JANICK!!!
Pickin’, bendin’, rapin’ Adrian’s solos…
Pickin’, bendin’, EXTRANEOUS!!!
UP THE IRONS!
So now I’ve told you ‘bout my favorite band
Go spread this song of tribute all across the land
I don’t seek fame and fortune, don’t misconstrue me
But if Steve Harris hears this, I hope he doesn’t sue me
So now lift up the Irons ever higher
‘cause when the music’s over…that’s the Majesty of Gaia

I just discovered this band. All aspects are exceptional: vocals, instruments, composition. If I had to say what it sounds like, I would say a more metal Kansas, with Queen like guitar parts, and Blind Guardian-like sense of orchestration and story telling. The connection to 70s prog (in a lot of aspects) makes this such an enjoyable journey. MindOverFour

I take it that this is HoC's first album. It is surprisingly mature. A remarkable concept album with stellar songwriting and musicianship. Phenomenal fusion of old and new progressive rock. MindOverFour
